What We Believe
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod accepts the Scriptures as the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and the LCMS subscribes unconditionally to all the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God.
We accept the Lutheran Confessions as articulated in the Book of Concord of 1580 because they are drawn from the Word of God, and on that account we regard their doctrinal content as a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture and as authoritative for all pastors, congregations and other rostered church workers of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

If you have not previously participated in Holy Communion here at Shepherd of the Mountains and wish to do so, please first introduce yourself to our Pastor or one of our elders in order that all those who will commune together and who will share the one bread and the one cup may be assured that we share, as well, the same confession and understanding
We celebrate the Lord's Supper every Sunday of the month, as well as on special feast days, such as Christmas, Maundy Thursday, Easter, etc.
Holy Communion
We believe that God uses a delivery system, or a "means", to bring His loving kindness to us in tangible ways. We call these the "Means of Grace." Besides the spoken and written Word of God, God comes to us in Baptism and Holy Communion.
We believe that through the waters of Baptism, God forgives us our sin and adopts us as His own. Through Baptism, God gives the gift of new life. We affirm the baptism of all people, including infants.
We believe that in Holy Communion Jesus is really present with His body and blood in, with and under the bread and wine. In Holy Communion, Jesus brings us forgiveness of sin and the promise of life and salvation.
